I’m gonna bring it on home to you…
So I wrote this big, long post in my head about where I’d been for like the last month and what’s been going on (hums for min) and all that stuff and as all ‘written in my head’ posts it went poof about an hour after I finished it. Or maybe when I fell asleep?
Anyway, there was driving and vacationing and eating and the building of many things. We followed that up with (you guessed it) more driving. And recovering from driving. Afterward, we scrambled around helping the ‘Bit with her senior project and endured another ‘day to night’ flip with Scooter. Add in colds and pre-Christmas and DRAGONBORN (grin) and I sort of lost track of all my online media.
Yeah, I know. The post in my head was way better.
However – that post didn’t have a rockin’ video from The Record Company up in the featured spot, nor did contain an awesome performance from Leslie Craig off her new album.

Leslie Craig – Broken-Hearted Lullabye
I know there is a little buzz over the sound but hang in because Leslie’s voice powers through the static and is just gorgeous. Bonus points for not only her cool boots, but also the ones worn by the fiddleplayer.

To see what goes on Halloween night…
And we are live!
Halloween 2012 is officially underway at our house. Kahuna just left with the girls and I’ve had my first band of trick-or-treaters. Steve (my Captain America coffee cup) and I were going to give away candy here but I can’t find him.
6:47 – Huh, I pictured Batman a lot taller…
6:52 – There are Hershey bars in the candy bowl…
Listening to Haley Bowery and the Manimals – Halloween – Check out the track over on their Bandcamp page.
7:08 – okay, Jason is not as creepy when he is under five feet tall…
7:14 – Oh, how cute..a little bitty pirate. And a pirate princess…
7:20 – The ‘Bit has wandered in claiming sore feet. Sigh, when that wins out over candy you know they are growing up.
7:26 – Huh, a ninja pirate…
From Jack Moore - @Jack_Moore7 – “Love how neighbours try out do each other on Halloween. Soon they’ll be putting severed heads on spikes tower of London style…”
7:31 – Kahuna and Scooter the firefly fairy (sigh, the little cat costume was so cute but she wouldn’t wear it) returned home with a full pumpkin. Ohh, a frosty coupon, lots of chocolate, lots of gum that will go into the ‘Bits bag, pretzels…wait, who gives away pretzels for Halloween?
7:38 – Pretzel mystery solved. They are neat little bat and pumpkin shaped pretzels. Oh, Oh SCORE! Scooter has a gummy eyeball!
7:41 – Whoa, Skittles as far as the eye can see. We will be tasting the rainbow for days.
7:46 – Alas, my candy is gone. All I have left are two lonely little eyeballs and a jolly rancher.
7:52 – Okay, candy sorting and eating have commenced.
I’ll sign off with a little Halloween tune from Have Gun Will Travel called

It’s just another day…
Sooo…daytime is very…bright.
Having finally eased Scooter back into sleeping at night, I give my brain another day or so until it back in working order. Until then, here are some “things Kit learned while watching middle of the night television“. You have been warned.
For some bizarre reason all the Scorpions videos on VH1 are three times louder than any other video being shown, shoulder pads in women’s shirts and dresses will NEVER stop being painful to watch and there are actually two (2) different shows about guys that build and install aquariums. As a bonus, I am also addicted to Storage Wars.
The featured vid is the shiny new release from the Amends, A Certain Speed. You all can pick it up for free over on Soundcloud.
I intended to add all new songs to the sidebar but my connection is so bad I can’t get them all switched. I did manage to add Slow Trains by the Anaesthetics.

Don’t know why I go to extremes…
Need to make this quick as I have to go start the bread soon. The mini-mes are ill today so I am making chicken soup for dinner.
Iron Man 3 stuff!
Er…the post title might be actually be a spoiler…Anyway -
This is a pic of Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. In a very cute suit. Probably while filming in Cary. Note the sandals. This was obviously filmed on the only warm day North Carolina has had this summer. So will they CGI the Heels-of-Towering-Heights on later?
Oh yeah, the pics floating around are not of the Iron Patriot suit. They are apparently the new paint job on War Machine.
The previous sentence is not written in code.
I only put this pic of RDJ and Paltrow up to illustrate just how cold it has been this summer. Robert Downey Jr is wearing a jacket. Because, yes it is still that cold here. I would make ‘year without a summer’ jokes but it has stopped being funny. Look at the frown on his face. Even he thinks it is too freakin’ cold.
That is it for the movie stuff this week. Back to music tomorrow.

So not the week in music blogs…
I have no music blogs this week. I’ve been super busy with other stuff and have barely been online, much less had time to read all the music blog posts.
I had to order the Dad-in-Law’s gift for Father’s Day from Amazon UK since it doesn’t release in the US till the 19th. Now I hope the shipping is correct and it gets here in time. He is going to join us for vacation in a couple of weeks so it needs to arrive before we leave.
I have listened to a lot of music this week so I have several reviews in the works. I am saving one for vacation so the blog isn’t an endless stream of “look-a pretty tree” pictures while we are on the road.
This is the video preview of the new Skyrim DLC DawnGuard. Mounted combat, crossbows, new armor and lots of other stuff. The vid is a little gory so if that isn’t your thing you may want to skip it.
Aghh. I need more coffee.

Persecute, you defy, execute, crucify, crucify…
I’ll make this short since I have an awesome vid of the day to upload and you know…dishes to wash. It’s political so if that isn’t your thing you can skip to the video in the next post.
Dear National Organization for Marriage Hate Group:
Although in the past I have only been an occasional Starbucks customer, I have decided to frequent my local shop on a regular basis to help offset the loss of your 18,000 bigoted boycotters.
FYI – maybe if you all spent as much time on your own marriages as you do on trying to prevent others from marrying we might not be saddled with a 40-50% divorce rate in the US. I won’t even get into how your behavior on this isssue is so counter to true Christian ideals as to be unrecognizable as such. I guess the thrill of teaching your kids to hate is just too enticing to pass up.
Gee, aren’t you all so proud? Oh wait, isn’t excessive Pride the most serious of the…cough…right.

Strung out from the road…
Was on the road last week to attend memorial services and funeral of my mom-in-law. Not ready to post about it beyond saying it was a monumentally sucky week for everyone (esp Kahuna, his brother and their Dad) and we racked up over 3600 miles of driving during the course of the trip. The only bright spots were getting to see family (my mom in particular as I don’t see her often) and taking all the girls shopping while in Fort Smith.
In contrast to the sea of brown and grey here in North Carolina, all my bulbs and shrubs at the house in Alabama were blooming. However, the only internet access I had was Kahuna’s hotspot phone so posting was problematic.
Anyway, we are back home and all fighting a cold we picked up on the trip. I am -really- hoping next week is better. As it is, I put some new tracks up in the sidebar jukebox and will be answering comments and email once my post is done. I have a couple of things I’ve been listening to and will review one of them for tomorrow. Unless I fall asleep.
A couple of links before I go crash on the couch and play video games make lunch and finish working -
Beltran is out with the Flu…I feel for you dude.
No power in the ‘verse could get me in the car for a longer trip than the nearby market, not even SXSW. For others in the same boat check out the FREE SXSW download from Spin.

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]
Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass). I had [...]
So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
