Frank Turner - The Way I Tend To Be

gaming

I want to ride my bicycle…

I felt really blah yesterday so Scooter and I spent the day playing Hearthfire, the new DLC for Skyrim. We mined ore, planted herbs and forged too many nails to count. At the end of the day we both felt better and we had a shiny new in-game house, a moose named Barnaby and a couple of chickens. Yes, chickens.

Check out my full review of Hearthfire over on GamingHUD.

New music out this month from Ryan Bingham, Patterson Hood, Animal Collective, the Avett Brothers, The Killers and lots more. I have lots of new music for the jukebox and a few reviews if Scooter will cooperate.

There are still a few tickets left for the StageIt – Steve Carlson concert later today.

Finally, rock on little Freddie bird.

Rovio and Angry Birds are proud supporters of the Mercury Phoenix Trust and Freddie For A Day on September 5th!”

We’ll be dancin’ on the moon…

I am awake! During the day!

Scooter has returned to sleeping at night and I am no longer a zombie! Goodbye zombiedom!

So I found this meme where you take the color of pants you are wearing and pair it (sorry) with the last thing you ate to get your ultimate band name.  Mine was Blue Greek Yogurt which screams (to me at least) ‘Hi, I’m a  70′s prog band’. Sadly, all my ‘answer the meme, get your band name’ things end up sounding like a prog band.

All new tracks up in the sidebar jukebox today with songs from American Aquarium, Viv and the Revival, Angie Atkinson, The Baron Sisters and Joanne Shaw Taylor.

For anyone pulling the blog on feed – the featured vid today is Break My Heart Tonight by the Debonzo Brothers. Check out the ninebullets.net cool review of their new album, One Damn Heart.

Bethesda is releasing a new DLC for Skyrim called Hearthfire.

I’m not really interested in snagging a hubby or hubby-ette to keep in the house, nor will I be adopting any urchins – but - I am stoked to build a house and garden and a Bard room where I will install my Bard and he or she can sing endless repetitions of the same TWO songs while I am away on grand adventures.

(Hmm..unless the urchins have minion potential. I could use a few minions.)

Dinosaurs on a spaceship…

So last night I was all “OMG! New Doctor Who! Dinosaurs on a spaceship! Whee!”

This morning I am more “ow, ow, ow, coffee, please give me coffee”. I have a headache and Into Free -Dangan- by the B’z stuck in my head making it even worse. Not as bad as having Immigrant Song stuck in my head because no matter how old and mellow he is now, the Robert Plant inside my head is always really freakin’ loud.

I have a new article on Dragon’s Dogma up over at GamingHUD. (thus explaining the music stuck in my head)

It’s like the ’80s exploding all over my screen…and I can’t look away.

Moving along —

Lots of new stuff up in the sidebar jukebox. I must go find everything Nicki Bluhm has ever recorded and snag it because her voice is amazing. You all pop over and give her a listen. Beautiful, beautiful voice. Her band is the Gramblers and keep wondering if it is some smushing of rambler and gambler or just, you know, a word?

This last vid is for shoreacres from The Task at Hand. It’s The Record Company at this years’ SXSW covering Freddy Cannon’s Tallahassee Lassie. I consider this fair payment for the backwards walking chicken video.

Cause my baby done run off to Tampa Bay…

My office needs a door…that can be locked…and then barred with a big railroad tie.

Well I got nine bullets…

My ninebullets radio sticker came in the mail today!!!

I haven’t put it up anywhere permanently since I was going to stick it on my gig bag but decided I want it in the office instead. Now if they would just make a ninebullets radio coffee cup.

I have shiny new Patterson Hood up in the sidebar jukebox today!

Check out “Come Back Little Star” a preview track from his upcoming album Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance. I love the piano on this track – it is so very pretty. You can download your own copy from the link below -

I got my key for the City of Steam preview yesterday so I will be MMO’ing this weekend.

Huh, I ran out of exclamation points. Anyway…the plan is to game test City of Steam and finish my Dawnguard review. Possibly also toss the girls in the pool if the weather will cooperate.

This is Carol – her interests include pounding evil into a bloody pulp, flying (in and out of jets) and coffee…

I picked up the new Captain Marvel # 1 this morning. The Marvel Captain Marvel with Carol Danvers, not the DC Captain Marvel.

I love the new costume. The hair – the gloves – the everything.

(And seriously dudes, it isn’t like there is a shortage of thigh-high boots in the comic ‘verse. Trust me, you all will survive the trama of one super chick in pants.)

You can pick up Captain Marvel #1 at your local comic shop or order it online. I picked my copy up and pre-ordered the next three issues over on Things From Another World.

We live to the rhythm…

Whoa…Hi to all the new people!

Yes, yes.  I know most of you are only here hunting for Loki…or donuts…or Loki and donuts but still…HI!!

GamingHUD is your source for all things E3 this week.  Well, it is my source but you all are welcome to join in and check out all the new and soon-to-be released gaming stuff. I am looking forward to the whole Smart Glass thing because trying to search for movies on netflix with the game controller is a huge pain (grin) but I know most people are waiting for news on their particular favorite game or franchise. Dean and Aldath are living on energy drinks, coffee and sheer willpower this week so they won’t miss a minute of the conference.

I’ve started packing for vacation which basically means I am hunting for Scooter’s shoes. I think they are sentient and actually hide themselves when I am not looking but so far I have been unable to prove this.

I have been sort of following the Diamond Jubilee. By following I actually mean reading Jack Moore’s tweets and watching an occasional vid but whatever.

Then I found this.  I have no words.

Kit’s ‘So Awesome It Blows Awesome Out of The Water’ Awesome Vid of the Day

So not the week in music blogs…

I have no music blogs this week.  I’ve been super busy with other stuff and have barely been online, much less had time to read all the music blog posts.

I had to order the Dad-in-Law’s gift for Father’s Day from Amazon UK since it doesn’t release in the US till the 19th. Now I hope the shipping is correct and it gets here in time.  He is going to join us for vacation in a couple of weeks so it needs to arrive before we leave.

I have listened to a lot of music this week so I have several reviews in the works. I am saving one for vacation so the blog isn’t an endless stream of “look-a pretty tree” pictures while we are on the road.

This is the video preview of the new Skyrim DLC DawnGuard. Mounted combat, crossbows, new armor and lots of other stuff. The vid is a little gory so if that isn’t your thing you may want to skip it.

Aghh. I need more coffee.

- Kit

Hey, ho, let’s go….

Aghhhh!

I have spent all morning trying to get over to Suburban Home Records and pick up the new Arliss Nancy release, Simple Machines.  I know, I know – it’s not like I have to drive up and bang on Virgil’s door to get one. He has this nifty online site where I can click a few buttons and then listen to my d/l while I wait for the physical cds to arrive in the mail.   I just can’t get over there. I also…cough…can’t remember exactly where I put my purse with my money-stuff so that might be…you know…part of the problem.

I’ve been woken by a charlie horse in my leg twice this week so I thought, hey, eat a banana. When I went to get one I found my two remaining bananas are so old they may have petrified. Now I am thinking, just back away from the petrified bananas and leave them be.

The ‘Bit got Johnny Ramone for her guitarist profile powerpoint thing in her guitar class, then she spent the rest of the class refusing to trade him for someone else. Apparently, “you just don’t trade Johnny off”. I am so proud.

GamingHUD has a great post up on a game-related Kickstarter project, Fist Puncher.

The Alan Lomax Archive is now online. I have been trying to get on all morning but the traffic flow on the site must be incredible.  I’ll try again later tonight when it hopefully eases up a bit. Ah, there it is. Oh wow, guys this is kind of awesome.

Okay, I have bread to bake and new blues and prog to listen to while I work.

Shoo, go play in the archive.

- Kit

While the rest of the world keeps on passing me by…

Whoa…it’s like Monday…even though it isn’t.

I’m playing in the sneak preview of City of Steam on the 28th. Okay, okay…it’s more like I (and others) are bug hunting for free but what I’ve seen of the game so far looks pretty cool so I am excited it is about to start.

There are still a few tickets left for the Steve Carlson – Christian Kane StageIt show tomorrow night. About ten a day go up since the second sell-out so if you still need one try checking the page every few hours. As of 2:20pm est they have four listed.

My car is paid off! Yay!

Now my car wants a shiny new catalytic convertor. Sigh.

I am going through email so if you have sent me one recently I WILL get a reply out to you today. I just have to email my dad-in-law first.

When I was 18 it never once occurred to me that one day I would be sitting in a room dedicated to coffee (seriously) and telling the world at large that I am not sure what color hair my kid went to school with today. Life is…strange.

BTW the ‘Bit is enjoying her guitar class. She has two honors classes this semester and an advanced design class so Kahuna and I are glad she has guitar so she can catch her breath.

I am giving ‘mobile mudding’ a try for my next Mud review. We will see how it goes.

Okay, back to work on my review.

  • Blurred…
    February 12, 2013 | 4:06 pm

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]

  • Arc & Stones…
    February 11, 2013 | 4:53 am

Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass).  I had [...]

  • Telegraph Taboo…
    January 21, 2013 | 8:45 am

So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
