While the rest of the world keeps on passing me by…
Whoa…it’s like Monday…even though it isn’t.
I’m playing in the sneak preview of City of Steam on the 28th. Okay, okay…it’s more like I (and others) are bug hunting for free but what I’ve seen of the game so far looks pretty cool so I am excited it is about to start.
There are still a few tickets left for the Steve Carlson – Christian Kane StageIt show tomorrow night. About ten a day go up since the second sell-out so if you still need one try checking the page every few hours. As of 2:20pm est they have four listed.
My car is paid off! Yay!
Now my car wants a shiny new catalytic convertor. Sigh.
I am going through email so if you have sent me one recently I WILL get a reply out to you today. I just have to email my dad-in-law first.
When I was 18 it never once occurred to me that one day I would be sitting in a room dedicated to coffee (seriously) and telling the world at large that I am not sure what color hair my kid went to school with today. Life is…strange.
BTW the ‘Bit is enjoying her guitar class. She has two honors classes this semester and an advanced design class so Kahuna and I are glad she has guitar so she can catch her breath.
I am giving ‘mobile mudding’ a try for my next Mud review. We will see how it goes.
Okay, back to work on my review.

Another day in another town…
So yesterday I moved all the things and today I all my muscles hate me.
Kahuna was like “you rearranged the furniture again?” but really, it isn’t my fault. We have the most poorly designed living room in the history of living rooms. Seriously, it has one wall and a billion entryways and doors. There is just nowhere to put anything. I do like how the sunroom turned out and once all the stuff is back up on the walls I’ll snap a picture.
Sigh. Pinterest is my Waterloo. I just…it’s always ‘one more page and I’ll go fold laundry” or “just a few more pins and I’ll get back to work” and then an hour has passed and I am still scrolling.
Terribleminds interviewed Martha Wells on her new series.
You can now play Angry Birds on Facebook.
The Carpels are looking for a bass player. They are in Birmingham (the one in England, not Alabama) and you can contact them on twitter @thecarpels if you are interested.
For several months I thought Steve Madden was a football player and that he designed quilts and bedding in the off season…
Okay, maybe I have a cold since I am contemplating a mug of hot tea and watching HGTV. Off to make lunch for Scooter.

Let me call you Sweetheart…
My new Captain America earrings arrived yesterday! I was going to take a picture of me wearing them until I realized I am really bad at trying to photograph myself with the camera on my phone. Now I have all these bizarre pics of my ear at weird angles.
Sci-fi writer Martha Wells discusses finishing her lastest book and other writer-ly things.
Catch a first chapter preview of Throne of the Crescent Moon on author Saladin Ahmed’s website.
I have a terrible craving for pimento cheese sandwiches. I blame shoreacres for this problem.
Becky Chambers over at The Mary Sue discusses the ‘Hey Sweetheart’ scenario in RPG video games. I am not a fan of the DA:O Alistair example she uses since I think it is there to foreshadow a plot point, rather than to remind us that we are girls. The endless ‘pretty one’ remarks we have to endure later in the game and the ‘I dare you to slice open my bare midriff‘ female Dalish armor however, are excellent examples. Nice article and interesting discussion in the comments section.

Action is his reward…
I can always tell it has been a slow week on the blog when I only have a couple of comments in the spam folder.
For the Skyrim obsessed among you - Hurstwic has Viking Age clothing. I love the idea of Vikings in footie pajamas and stirrup pants. Sadly, I had to Google the correct spelling of ‘footie’.
I have a new-ish article on Skyrim up over at GamingHud. We have a lot of new Skyrim content, a game review and article from our newbie author Eric Walsh, a review from Faye, lots of pretty pictures of Batman and a ‘state of the website’ message from the Boss.
Want a Joe Bonamassa bobblehead for Christmas? Probably too late to ship before the holiday but while you wait, download a free copy of Joe singing Merry Christmas, Baby.
Scooter is wearing a blanket as a cape and has proclaimed herself a SuperHero. When I asked what her super power was she said, “Loud Noise”.
I know, I know. I am rambling all over the place but it has been a very busy week and I struggle to maintain focus. Maybe everything will slow down this weekend and after. Plus I need to go make the resident superhero a peanut butter triangle. Apparently she needs to ‘recharge’ her powers.
Anyway, have some Ramones.

Black coffee since the blues caught my eye…
Okay, I was all set to jump right into the post today and then I looked up and noticed the coffee pot is empty. Glancing up at the top shelf on the rack revealed that the coffee jars were empty.
I have no coffee…I am not sure there is even a point in continuing but I will at least try.
The rare few times I could pry Kahuna away from the Xbox I played Skyrim over the weekend. I am working on a review for GamingHUD but have a few things to share here. It is an awesome game, but it hasn’t captured my interest or imagination the way Oblivion or Dragon Age:Origins did. I am hopeful that as I get deeper into the story this will change but for now, Skyrim is not the shiny I expected.
It is also possible I am just too distracted to focus on the game. I made the closed beta for DragonSoul and have played it on and off this weekend as well. Check out the new trailer for DragonSoul over on GamingHUD.
I also have multiple album releases I am attempting to find time to listen and review. The Coronas released Closer to You on friday, I picked up Keep Your Devils Around from the American Scarecrows, Eve Selis just released her new album…and the list goes on and on.
I am also watching Dragon Age:Redemption. It is a live action adaption of Dragon Age, and as it doesn’t follow the lore all that closely I am assuming it is an AU. The Templar is okay. They don’t usually hunt alone so I am hoping this will be a plot point and not another instance of tossing out game lore for story effect. Seriously, the blood marks (tattoos) on the Dalish are so small you can barely see them, the keeper apprentice doesn’t have his yet which effectively makes him a kid in their culture…Day’s character is a -female- fighting for the Qunari, which…NO, just…NO. I am at episode four and waiting for one more to decide if I want to continue. It isn’t all bad, but isn’t close enough to Dragon Age to deserve the title.
Okay, I must undertake a quest for coffee. And possibly lunch as well.

Feel my thorns, Darkspawn!
After much hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth (okay, maybe there was no hand-wringing…how do you wring your hands?) I have resolved my November 11, 2011 dilemma. I will listen to the Coronas’ new album -AS- I play Skyrim.
If it wasn’t so old I would write an epic review of Dragon Age: Origins. Well, that and I am supposed to be playtesting and reviewing something else right now and…let’s just move along.
And no, the rumors that I have been obsessively playing DA:O for days now are greatly exaggerated. I also did laundry and sorted my beading tacklebox.
Seriously, once in a while I just need a few days away from tech and the internet to decompress. This time the baby came down with a cold right after I took a few days off and until she was better even following Twitter was problematic.
The joy I experience when drinking coffee out of a cup that says ‘Name Your Poison’ cannot adequately be expressed in mere words.
I gave up on the diamond/military pushups and compromised on something between those and the wide spread ones I had been doing. I don’t know if I need more muscle or if it is the old injury but no matter how careful I am the diamond ones kill my shoulder. I am just doing the 100 challenge over with the closer hands and a lower angle to the floor. As long as I stop on the last set when I start to feel the burn in my shoulder I can avoid the awful pain I had previously.
Sigh…I need a giant sign that hovers over my head and says, “I AM WORKING - IF YOU AREN’T BLEEDING, CHOKING OR ON FIRE - DO - NOT - PESTER ME!”
Okay, I give up. Apparently I need to go save the world. Or something… Here’s Vivs’ new song – Taxi Man.

Play guitar, oh yeah…
Why does this never happen when I play guitar?

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]
Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass). I had [...]
So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
