Iron Man lives again…
Sooo…Robert Downey, Jr is standing approximately two (2) hours away from where I am sitting at this very moment. Okay, okay – I assume he is standing. He could be sitting or running or banging on prop movie metal with a prop movie hammer. The point is…uh, I know had a point.
YES, the point is if I had a south facing window I could stare directly at the movie sets. I can’t see them of course (refers back to the two hours away statement) but that doesn’t change the fact that they are there.
Iron Man 3 is filming in Wilmington, NC well…right now. Sigh. I knew the whole “if I can’t go to Gulf Shores for vacation I don’t want to go to the beach at all” thing would backfire on me.
Huh…Kahuna popped in for lunch and according to his phone compass (I know, right – but I love him anyway) our big wall-o-windows faces SE so I actually can stand in the sunroom and look SOUTH to Wilmington!
Hey RDJ, I am watching you!
Er…that came out way more creepy and stalker-y than I intended. Great…now if I ever accidently run into him at the market while on an emergency goldfish cracker run I’ll feel all awkward and weird. Not awkward enough to let him have the last bag of goldfish, but still…weird.
I wish we had a little more info on the villain or villains. I am cool with pretty much anyone except the Living Armor ’cause that storyline creeps me out. I also wish Marvel would release more pics and such but they like to relay info on their movies a drop at a time.

And if we get it wrong they’ll feed us to the sharks…
Not enough coffee in the world today.
I have attempted to do the 100 pushup challenge with military-style push ups three times now and every time I get in about the middle of the second week the pain in my left shoulder becomes so bad I can’t continue. I don’t have any injuries…well, it is the same shoulder I broke (not badly) years ago but the pain is in a different place than the break site and I didn’t have this kind of pain when I did the push up challenge the first time. I need more muscle maybe?
Off to get the ‘Bit replacement eyeglasses this afternoon. Hers took one look at the ocean and decided to take a world cruise.
The Dalai Lama has a twitter account. (@DalaiLama) He also has a website and…whoa…he tweets. To over 2 million followers. Hmmm. Apparently the Dalai Lama and I share a love of commas. Wait, what? Kahuna is following the Dalai Lama??
Seriously, not enough coffee in the world today.
While on vacation we all got to pet stingrays. Yes, actually touch them. It was seriously cool. We took the girls to the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores.
They have an indoor waterfall, interactive exhibits for the kids, decks and walkways over a salt marsh and a hiking trail. We saw sharks, eels, lionfish (usually native to the south Pacific but a small colony has established itself along the North and South Carolina coast) otters, turtles and fish. Lots of fish.
Yes, that is a sand-ship. Steered by a sand-shark. The aquarium was cool, okay.

I wanna sit there in the sand…

I’m so proud I just gotta brag, my baby sure can shag…
Packing for the beach!!! Not that there is actually that much to pack since it’s you know, the beach.
*Looks around the site*
Whoa…where did you all come from? Uh, hi to all the new blog people. Glad to see you…all of you…how is everyone able to fit in…never mind – moving along.

Changing the Jukebox out for August. Somehow it ended up a little country-heavy. I am still trying to figure out how that happened. I put in some stuff for me, some stuff for you guys and some new stuff we can try out together. I had to do the jukebox in two parts to get all the songs I wanted. The Grooveshark player lists the song titles but to change songs on the ReverbNation player you need to click the forward button.
Oh, cool. Bob Margolin and Mac Arnold will be at Blue Root Jam. Say, does anyone else do the thing where you read or hear Bob Margolin and your brain immediately yells, steady rollin’? Like every single time and it gets a little…er…that’s just me isn’t it. Never mind – moving along.
The ‘Bit drew a couple of cool chibis for me. Er, chibis of me, for me. Kit-chibis I suppose. Is it chibi or chibis? Hang a sec. Whoa…grammar wars. The plural of chibi depends on whether it is used as a noun or an adjective. Or possibly what language you are using. Right…Let’s go with ‘chibis’ and back away from those discussions very slowly.
Anyway, I have one in the sidebar and smaller ones over on twitter and other online sites so I decided to pop the full size on in the post. I don’t actually spend any time standing that way; the ‘Bit just hates to draw hands. Sadly, I am not as cute as my chibi but then, who is?
I keep getting sidetracked. We will be on vacation in the Outer Banks next week. The girls and I have never been to the Carolina beaches so we are looking forward to being out on an island. I loaded my phone down with new music and am hoping to get a few reviews out but it is highly possible the posts next week will consist of “oh look…beach” “more beach” “even more beach” and so on. Fair warning.

Tell that story, pain and glory…
Briefly coming out of my move-induced hiatus to post a couple things.
One is the list of blues and music festivals for July. I know I missed a few but the list still seems short. Is the lack from the slow economy or the unrelenting heat?
The other is just a little signal boost for the benefit concert Jimmy Buffett is putting on Sunday July 11th in Gulf Shores to help tourism and the folks on the Gulf Coast. The concert was scheduled for July 1st but the weather did not cooperate. (hey, it’s hurricane season) Jimmy, Sonny Landreth and the Zac Brown Band will perform along with several other bands.
Tickets are free, either from ticketmaster or you can get them from merchants in the area. You can purchase concert t-shirts to help out but just being there and spending a little money on food and lodging will help tremendously. Check out the Margaritaville site or the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce website for more information.

With the sea I did abide…
Happy Birthday Mom!
Save us some shrimp

They dance all night and fish all day, but that’s all right with me…
Lots to do.
You can head over to Clarksdale, MS for the Cat Head Mini Blues Fest running alongside the Pinetop Perkins Homecoming Jam. Hours of music, great food, shopping, art and if you get tired they have plenty of porches to sit and rest a while. These events are on Sunday but there is plenty going on tonight at the various restaurants and clubs, including a screening of the film ‘M for Mississippi’ at the Ground Zero Blues Club.
OR-
If you are headed to Louisiana, the Voice of the Wetlands Festival is this weekend.
Finally, if you are in the mood to hit the beach, the 37th Annual National Shrimp Festival is also this weekend in Gulf Shores, AL. With a 10K run, music, art and crafts, a children’s village, and oh yeah – SHRIMP you might not even make it out into the water. If Kahuna and ‘Bit get better (they may have caught my cold) this is where we are headed. (with a stop off in Loxley for amazing ice cream)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]
Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass). I had [...]
So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
