Savages - She Will

computer gaming

Cause my baby done run off to Tampa Bay…

My office needs a door…that can be locked…and then barred with a big railroad tie.

Well I got nine bullets…

My ninebullets radio sticker came in the mail today!!!

I haven’t put it up anywhere permanently since I was going to stick it on my gig bag but decided I want it in the office instead. Now if they would just make a ninebullets radio coffee cup.

I have shiny new Patterson Hood up in the sidebar jukebox today!

Check out “Come Back Little Star” a preview track from his upcoming album Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance. I love the piano on this track – it is so very pretty. You can download your own copy from the link below -

I got my key for the City of Steam preview yesterday so I will be MMO’ing this weekend.

Huh, I ran out of exclamation points. Anyway…the plan is to game test City of Steam and finish my Dawnguard review. Possibly also toss the girls in the pool if the weather will cooperate.

This is Carol – her interests include pounding evil into a bloody pulp, flying (in and out of jets) and coffee…

I picked up the new Captain Marvel # 1 this morning. The Marvel Captain Marvel with Carol Danvers, not the DC Captain Marvel.

I love the new costume. The hair – the gloves – the everything.

(And seriously dudes, it isn’t like there is a shortage of thigh-high boots in the comic ‘verse. Trust me, you all will survive the trama of one super chick in pants.)

You can pick up Captain Marvel #1 at your local comic shop or order it online. I picked my copy up and pre-ordered the next three issues over on Things From Another World.

Tryin’ to get my way home…

Scooter is watching Angry Birds videos this morning.  Yes, there really are Angry Birds vids and no, I haven’t a clue why. She seems to be stuck on the one with the superhero angry birds and one set to I Wanna Hold Your Hand.  Somebody save me…please.

New video for “45″ from The Gaslight Anthem.

According to The Mary Sue, NASA will be having a bake sale this weekend. Seriously.

The peeps over on City of Steam have put together some game-related merchandise. You can pick up City of Steam themed (ouch, sorry) or Mechanist Games themed t-shirts, coffee cups, posters and mouse pads.

I still have an Arlis NancySimple Machines CD to give away.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have reunited to release Americana. I’ve had the vid to Oh, Suzannah floating around the blog and my facebook this week. I kinda like the ‘let’s add a hard guitar and drum edge to the tune’ sound. Before they became grade school standards, some of these tracks were protest songs and I think Americana does a good job of recapturing that feeling. You all should definitely check it out just…skip the Rolling Stone review ’cause it is crap.

Yeah, don’t even. I was over there to read the review for the awesome new Joe Bonamassa release, Driving Towards the Daylight (another crap review, btw) and read the one for Americana while I was there.  No,  I am not linking to either of them because I would rather have my fingernails pulled off with pliers than link to RS.   Have a Joe vid instead.

Catch Joe at about 2:58 in the vid. ;)

My Iron Man lamp is finally here!

Once I put away all the folded clothes on the top of my desk I’ll take a pic. I may use it as my ’On Vacation’ graphic this year.  According to the news, I should be able to step outside and like, run into someone from Iron Man 3. Wednesday they were filming over in Cary so they could be ANYWHERE.

Well, anywhere except Lowes tomorrow since I need things from the Garden Center and don’t want to fight traffic to get there. Hey, I have priorities.

Okay, I need coffee and eventually I must conquer the laundry. I also need to start on the week in blogs since it is looking kind of huge at this point. Go, shoo. Watch the vids.

We live to the rhythm…

Whoa…Hi to all the new people!

Yes, yes.  I know most of you are only here hunting for Loki…or donuts…or Loki and donuts but still…HI!!

GamingHUD is your source for all things E3 this week.  Well, it is my source but you all are welcome to join in and check out all the new and soon-to-be released gaming stuff. I am looking forward to the whole Smart Glass thing because trying to search for movies on netflix with the game controller is a huge pain (grin) but I know most people are waiting for news on their particular favorite game or franchise. Dean and Aldath are living on energy drinks, coffee and sheer willpower this week so they won’t miss a minute of the conference.

I’ve started packing for vacation which basically means I am hunting for Scooter’s shoes. I think they are sentient and actually hide themselves when I am not looking but so far I have been unable to prove this.

I have been sort of following the Diamond Jubilee. By following I actually mean reading Jack Moore’s tweets and watching an occasional vid but whatever.

Then I found this.  I have no words.

Get over here and play a video game…

Cool stuff in my email…

From the Smithsonian American Art Museum:

The Art of Video Games exhibition opens in less than two months (on March 16, 2012), so things are getting a little hectic around the museum and I have a lot to share.

Early in January, the exhibits team did a round of testing for the 5 “playable” games that will be in the exhibition (Pac-Man, Super Mario Brothers, The Secret of Monkey Island, Myst, and Flower). The most challenging aspect of these games is that we are running them through original hardware and/or operating systems…

…Fabrication is well underway for the 20 “genre kiosks” that will showcase 80 video games through screen captures and video footage. These are the 80 games that won the public vote in 2011. We were very excited to see how these were coming along!

You can see more photos of the game testing and kiosk fabrication on Flickr. We’ll continue to add images as we get closer to the opening – including photos of installation in the galleries (I can’t wait!)

Black coffee since the blues caught my eye…

Okay, I was all set to jump right into the post today and then I looked up and noticed the coffee pot is empty.  Glancing up at the top shelf on the rack revealed that the coffee jars were empty.

I have no coffee…I am not sure there is even a point in continuing but I will at least try.

The rare few times I could pry Kahuna away from the Xbox I played Skyrim over the weekend.  I am working on a review for GamingHUD but have a few things to share here. It is an awesome game, but it hasn’t captured my interest or imagination the way Oblivion or Dragon Age:Origins did.  I am hopeful that as I get deeper into the story this will change but for now, Skyrim is not the shiny I expected.

It is also possible I am just too distracted to focus on the game.  I made the closed beta for DragonSoul and have played it on and off this weekend as well.  Check out the new trailer for DragonSoul over on GamingHUD.

I also have multiple album releases I am attempting to find time to listen and review.  The Coronas released Closer to You on friday, I picked up Keep Your Devils Around from the American Scarecrows, Eve Selis just released her new album…and the list goes on and on.

I am also watching Dragon Age:Redemption. It is a live action adaption of Dragon Age, and as it doesn’t follow the lore all that closely I am assuming it is an AU.  The Templar is okay.  They don’t usually hunt alone so I am hoping this will be a plot point and not another instance of tossing out game lore for story effect.  Seriously, the blood marks (tattoos) on the Dalish are so small you can barely see them, the keeper apprentice doesn’t have his yet which effectively makes him a kid in their culture…Day’s character is a -female- fighting for the Qunari, which…NO, just…NO.  I am at episode four and waiting for one more to decide if I want to continue.  It isn’t all bad, but isn’t close enough to Dragon Age to deserve the title.

Okay, I must undertake a quest for coffee.  And possibly lunch as well.

Feel my thorns, Darkspawn!

After much hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth (okay, maybe there was no hand-wringing…how do you wring your hands?) I have resolved my November 11, 2011 dilemma.  I will listen to the Coronas’ new album -AS- I play Skyrim.

If it wasn’t so old I would write an epic review of Dragon Age: Origins.  Well, that and I am supposed to be playtesting and reviewing something else right now and…let’s just move along.

And no, the rumors that I have been obsessively playing DA:O for days now are greatly exaggerated.  I also did laundry and sorted my beading tacklebox. ;)

Seriously, once in a while I just need a few days away from tech and the internet to decompress.  This time the baby came down with a cold right after I took a few days off and until she was better even following Twitter was problematic.

The joy I experience when drinking coffee out of a cup that says ‘Name Your Poison’ cannot adequately be expressed in mere words.

I gave up on the diamond/military pushups and compromised on something between those and the wide spread ones I had been doing.  I don’t know if I need more muscle or if it is the old injury but no matter how careful I am the diamond ones kill my shoulder.  I am just doing the 100 challenge over with the closer hands and a lower angle to the floor. As long as I stop on the last set when I start to feel the burn in my shoulder I can avoid the awful pain I had previously.

Sigh…I need a giant sign that hovers over my head and says, “I AM WORKING - IF YOU AREN’T BLEEDING, CHOKING OR ON FIRE - DO - NOT - PESTER ME!”

Okay, I give up. Apparently I need to go save the world. Or something… Here’s Vivs’ new song – Taxi Man.

  • Blurred…
    February 12, 2013 | 4:06 pm

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]

  • Arc & Stones…
    February 11, 2013 | 4:53 am

Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass).  I had [...]

  • Telegraph Taboo…
    January 21, 2013 | 8:45 am

So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
