I’ll be wonderful super fantastic coolness remarkable…
Stuff…
Still doing the ‘up all night – sleep all day thing’ with Scooter. On the plus side she has finally embraced the whole ‘yeah for bathrooms’ concept and that is a relief but the living large all night thing is really rough. I feel kind of like a zombie
Ordered all the things we need from Manic Panic to give the ‘Bit shocking blue hair before school starts.
(Yeah, yeah I know – but she only gets to be 17 with electric blue hair once in her life so…bring it on.)
We also picked up most of the non-counter culture school supplies she needs and her schedule so we are pretty much ready for school.
On to music – things:

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]
Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass). I had [...]
So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
Love seeing the words “Luckenbach, Texas” anywhere, any time.
You’re living the life my mom lived for years. She did it by choice, though. I didnt’ much care. It didn’t affect me, except when she had to tell me about all the freaky things that were going to happen to us – Armageddon a la George Noory, Art Bell et.al.
There are a couple of interesting posts at NMississippiCommenter about the Sunflower Blues Festival in Clarksdale. The main post is linked inside the one I’ve provided here. They made the decision to bring in Robert Plant. Chaos ensued, and more than a little grousing. I thought you’d be interested.
Didn’t someone try to kidnap George earlier this year? When he was in Mexico? Now I must go google and see.
Thanks for the link. I think this is something a lot of festivals are going to struggle with as the economy crawls along. Do we try and bring in a ‘big name that will appeal to more than just blues fans’ or do we stick with blues acts? Personally (grin) I would have preferred to have a good seat for Jimbo, rather than for Plant but not everyone sees it that way.
