If all I have to give you is my time…
See, I did not set out to find a new band today. I am crazy-busy so I only meant to log in and maybe clean up a few links, then glance at a few sites.
When I popped by Suburban Home Records I found a free mp3 Curse of the Drunk by a band called The Takers. So I snagged it.
(It is like some horrible compulsion. If it says free and it is legal, I HAVE to download it.)
But then I liked it, so I went over the band’s site and listened to some of their other stuff. They have kind of a country-rock sound with little bits of southern rock here and there.
I like their tracks, but I absolutely love Drift. It is so gorgeous it makes my fingers itch. I spent nearly thirtly minutes trying to find somewhere to buy a copy. Just when I was about to give up and get a myspace account (hey, it is a -really- good song) to leave the band a message the track appears for d/l on the Suburban site. Customer service by telepathy – who knew?
Suburban Home Records free Fest 7 LP – contains ‘Drift’ and some other cool stuff from different bands.
You all go download. I will be loading Drift on my mp3 player. Shoo.

This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]
Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass). I had [...]
So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
