The Week in Music…Blogs March 31 to April 6, 2012

Josh Hathaway from Blinded by Sound tossed out a list of releases for April, including stuff from Tab Benoit (yea!), the Smiths and Elvis Costello.

Brandon over on The Burning Ear streamed All the Rowboats, a track off the upcoming Regina Spektor release, What We Saw from the Cheap Seats.

Michael Barwise from Michael’s Music Madness posted the Favourite Songs Of 2012 So Far:

So March is now over which means that we are a 1/4 of the way through 2012. Three months of great new music. I asked radio DJs, bloggers and more about what music they’ve been loving so far this year…”

Rachel at Adobe and Teardrops streamed Bully, from the upcoming album, When the New Wears Off, by The Only Sons.

John Jurgensen from the Wall Street Journal interviewed Bonnie Raitt about music and her new album, Slipstream.

AutopsyIV from ninebullets.net asked:

If you could only listen to the discography of 3 artists/bands for the remainder of your life. Who would they be?”

Finally, if you aren’t already reading Peter Parcek’s Unsung Heroes of the Blues Guitar, this is a great time to start. Check out his latest installment, former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Danny Kirwan.

The list seems a little short but I spent most of the week a bit sleep-deprived and didn’t read as many blogs as usual. If you want me to add your post to the list just send me an email, bug me over on Twitter @kitbrown_wmb or leave your addy in the comments section.

This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]

  • Arc & Stones…
    February 11, 2013 | 4:53 am

Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass).  I had [...]

  • Telegraph Taboo…
    January 21, 2013 | 8:45 am

So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
