You’re gonna tear me down to the ground…
I have been listening to Days Behind by Steve Carlson and have gone from “Kane is an okay band. I should listen to them more” to “hey, I really like Steve. I will go buy more of his stuff.”
So I did. Buy the album that is.
I like Between You and Me. The piano is beautiful; just a little melancholy but still hopeful, right until the moment the guitar comes crashing in and adds a dark ragged edge to the sound. Out Here Alone is very cool, sort of like a beat poem set to soulful folk. Break Me is not only my favorite track of the album, but also the song that turned me into a serious fan of Carlson. I had it on repeat yesterday and would happily toss money, good coffee or even cute fluffy kittens in the tip jar if he would just play it at the show Tuesday night.
When I started writing this review yesterday there was one shiny ticket left for Steve’s Tuesday night show, Worldwide and Unplugged. The concert is online, through a website called StageIt. Steve added additional tickets earlier yesterday morning and they were sold out by early afternoon. Happily I picked mine up yesterday morning.
If you didn’t snag a ticket for the show, you can check out the player below or listen to Steve on iTunes and can pick up a copy of Days Behind while you are there. It is well worth the money.
For more info and a gig schedule Check out Steve’s website or follow him on twitter @steviecarlson.

I have been trying to write the review for Blurred, by San Francisco singer/songwriter Alex Wise for a few months now but can’t seem to finish it. This is difficult for me to say but I get about halfway through the process and find myself so homesick I just can’t continue. The past few years have been full [...]
Now that Scooter is back sleeping nights I proclaim this ’dig myself out from under the mountain of un-reviewed music‘ week. Kicking off the week o’reviewing is Arc & Stones, the debut EP from Brooklyn band Arc & Stones. The guys are Dan Pellarin (vocals), Ben Cramer (guitar), Joe Doino (drums) and Eddy Bayes (bass). I had [...]
So, I was in the mood for some blues and whoosh – blues appeared. Other people get coupons, bills and news updates in the mail while I get blues music. Cool new blues music in the form of the debut release Telegraph Taboo from the Chicago-based band Nick and the Ovorols. This is not a pretty album. The vocals on a few tracks [...]
